DOMS, Vaccine Side Effects & Sun Burn.

My last post was all about working hard and bettering yourself etc etc. Let’s flip that on it’s head.

Choose your battles. Whats the point in training hard to feel good if you never spend long enough feeling good to train hard? You get me? I can tell you now, I’ve trained hungover, with existing DOMS and I recently played a Rugby 7’s tournament with a dead shoulder from my COVID vaccine. Sometimes it’s okay to take a day or even a week off if in the right circumstance!

Im writing this with burn lines like a Squashie Drumstick sweet. I can tell you now…

I have no intention to train today.

I could do. And probably put in quite a good session. But knowing I want to have a good session tomorrow, with another 7’s tournament the following day, it’s just not worth it because I will be much worse off on game day if I don’t rehydrate, catch up on sleep (sleep with sunburn isn’t cool - yes thats a pun) and let my brain have a break too.

If you get guilt from missing a session, then think how many you’ve had in the last 7 days. More than about 3? then swallow the guilt. Because if you have a proactive rest (eating well, getting good sleep, relaxing), you’ll be better physically and mentally! I can say that as a guilt feeler myself.
