Speed Demon

I’ve always been pretty quick. Definitely not in my wit, but sprinting.

I enjoy being quick and out pacing opponents. I like training for speed too. There is infinite technical points to sprinting, as well as physically being effective and efficient with the biomechanics and coping with the forces being applied. ANY team sport you play, will require acceleration and deceleration, however is often overlooked or not a main focus point.

An order I like to stick by when starting a speed and acceleration macro-cycle (multiple weeks/months/year of training), is; sprint endurance/conditioning, speed training, acceleration training and finally event/game speed. Each time I move on a stage, I will maintain performance in the previous, by decreasing the volume of that concept, but keeping it going through the macro-cycle.

So far this year, I’ve been focussing on sprint endurance and conditioning, now I’m ready to move onto speed training and I’m excited to see what numbers I can get out.

Another benefit of being a sprinter, you never have to train calves. You’re welcome.
